I have four adorable ferrets and they are my "babies"!

I love this web-site, thousands of congrats! I'm waiting 4 more weeks to get my fuzzies home from the breeder's. They are 2 kits (brothers) of 4 weeks old, when they become 8 weeks I will take them to a new forever home.
Meanwhile, I'm reading tons of information about ferrets, because I don't believe in taking home a living creature without knowing exactly what you are getting into. If more people did their research, the shelters would not be as full of abandoned ferrets as they sadly are... They are not pets for everybody, though they are really cute, there is a lot of responsibility envolved. Luckily I can take care of 2 of them, financially and with my time to play and give them all the attention they do deserve.
Thank you for the informations here, once again. Keep up with the good work! We first-time-ferret-owners (i like to think I'm going to be their mother instead of an owner, and they make us get prepared for them as we were going to have a baby, soo. :D ) need people like you guys, helping with our millions of doubts.

The recent death of my guinea pig left me lonely and with more time on my hands so after a trip to the pet store I saw a ferret and we bonded in the store. Since then I have been researching about ferrets and was happy to know they aren't the "stinky monsters" that would bite your finger off as soon as look at you like my parents told me when I was a child. I hope to own my first ferret very soon.

I owned two ferrets, male and female, for 4 years, and it was the most beautiful experience ever... I raised them and took excellent care of them... never had them in a cage, always running around the house and free to leave to the garden... of course I had to search for escaping ways before leaving them run free... I put the female down first because of cancer, and two months later the male because of the same illness and maybe sadness for losing his couple...It was very hard for us but something that was needed to be done... During this time they lived with my three cats and the kittens my cat had... they were never aggressive or something like that... always a perfect caring and loving pet... After that someone gave me an old ferret she had kept in a cage for three years... it was nice to see how it experimented the change in it life after being caged to feel free to run and go up and down the stairs... The best experience ever.... Ferrets are not for everyone, they need a lot of care, cleaning, and healthcare... Greetings!!!

My hubby and I got our first ferret in August of 09. Last week we had to put him down due to cardiomyopathy- very rare in a 9 month old ferret. We miss Sylar terribly- he was our dear fun and affectionate friend.

I found the litter training article to be of help. Although I haven't tried it yet because I just read it, it seems the best idea yet that I have read. My mom says I should get a bigger litter box such as a cat one because I have two ferrets and the one tends to not go in the same litter box. So if I get a bigger one they both have enough room. My only problem is they like to play in the fresh corn cob litter right after I clean their cage and get it all over my room. If you could help me there it would be great thanks ;)

Me and my friends have 18 ferrits including the babies. They very cute but a little smelly lol! The babies are biting, but that's what they go through while growing up into an adult. There in 2 big huts and they love them! It's nice to watch them play. The huts have a side door cut into the other hut so it's an open hut lol, :)
My mum found this site so I thought I would sign the guest book. It's an interesting site and I'm willing to re-visit the site and keep informed on how to keep the ferrits healthy :)

I'm a first time owner of an adorable male ferret named Puck. I just got him today! He is 1-1/2 years old and he loves to play with my three cats and dog. Right now he is asleep on my dogs back (a yellow lab).

Hey! I've got a cage and will be hopefully getting a ferret within the next couple of weeks (summer vacations make it hard right now). I am disappointed by the fact that there are so few if any breeders in NY! :( But I can't wait to get my fuzzy at a nearby pet store :)

Great site, pity that UK ferret clubs do not take more interest in ferret colours.

I can hardly wait until California changes the law regarding allowing ferrets in California. California probably has the largest population of ferrets in the US and 27% of all ferret supplies are purchased in California alone. The majority of ferrets purchased in Nevada, Arizona and Oregon (approximately 80%) are by Californians. The ferret ban in California costs our state between $693,281 and $2,773,125 each year, and this does not include the cost of enforcement (even lax enforcement). We'll get rid of this stupid ban one day and then we all can take our furbabies out in public like the rest of our pets.

I recently bought 2 f/males, 4 months old, at first they kept drawing 1ST BLOOD (WOULD HAVE MADE RAMBO CRY!!!!). But thanks 2 this site and others like it, I have learnt how 2 greatly reduce their bites. their names r KAOS and MAYHEM this suits them 100%. The war dance is very cute and funny except when they decide 2 climb your tracksuit pants at high speed, then it's all hands on deck (covering private areas with extreme haste)!!

Hello!
I just wanted to say that I am the owner of six ferrets. Though they may not be the best pets for everyone, they are for me. You do need to learn all you can about them before getting one (what this site is for :). I own both males and females. My two males are very cuddly, and playful at the same time, they tend to have less energy then my females, who hop around like jumping beans. I love both males and females. I usually buy a female if I want super frisky, and a male if I want more cuddly. Though this is not always the rule, in my case, the males are more mellow. By the way, I love this site. Thank you so much for helping people learn about these wonderful animals!

I think ferrets are very good pets. I'm trying to talk My parents into letting me have one of these cool pets.

I've had ferrets, both jills & hobbs. I can honestly say I prefer the jills, they're more loving, loyal and learn quicker than the hobbs. Not to say I don't like hobbs. I have a hob named Jack (no surprise). He's a lot larger, a bit of a bully and always into mischief. I even take my jill in the bath with me! I wouldn't be without my ferrets. xxx Ann

My daughter brought lucky little Lucy LuLu home from college. We knew nothing about raising a ferret. What a great pet she is!
